Hybrid X

This is a concept vehicle by Toyota. It looks so futuristic to me, although when they tried to predict cars for the millennium I think they were more along these lines than the actual cars we drive today. Then again, I pretty sure they expected us to all be driving hovercrafts...

Shroud of Turin

So how many people have heard of this? I am a Christian and I have grown up learning and hearing about all that that implies, but I never knew about this. In case there are others that were uninformed, like myself, I want to fill you in! The "Shroud of Turin" as it is referred to is located in Turin, Italy (now a place I must visit!). This is an ancient death shroud that was used to cover a dead body. Now here's when it gets crazy. On the shroud itself you can see a slight picture of a man's face. On the negative of the picture taken of the shroud the face (as you can see) is undoubtedly there. So why does it show up more on the negative, than the photograph made? This isn't a hoax, historians have been studying this for years. There are blood stains on the shroud: lashings on the back, punctures on the head from a crown of thorns, and punctures in the hands as well. The marks in the hands are not of the crucifixion which is often depicted today, but where they actually did nail the bodies; through the wrist (not the palms). Historians do know that this was, in fact, a death shroud from the period in which Jesus is said to have existed (which I of course believe he did exist). Also, it is clearly a shroud which was used to cover a body that had been crucified similar to that of Jesus. So the question remains: Did this shroud actually cover Jesus' body prior to the resurrection? Perhaps, we will never really know, but I think it is definitely interesting to think about.

Solution for Bleach Spots

So, have you ever had a favorite shirt, that somehow, among all of your shirts was the only one to get bleach stains on it? Then, if you are anything like me, you hang on to it....keep telling yourself you will wear it to sleep in or something, but then you never do, mainly because it is covered with white spots. Well, I found these markers in which I am extremely anxious to try! I don't know how well they work (because I haven't used them yet!), but at the point of which your shirt is already beyond repair, it can't hurt right? They are called Tria System Pantone Markers. They are a little over $4 each on this website I found. They come in several shades, so hopefully, even if your shirt is a different hue, you can match it! Wash your shirt (make sure all the bleach is gone!) then fill in spots with marker. Let it absorb in for about a day, and then launder as usual. These are not supposed to bleed on any other fabric, but I recommend washing the garment by itself the first time. Just another reason for our society to stop being so wasteful!!

PostSecret

I have often considered adopting when I am older and married (obviously). If for whatever reason, I can't have kids, I will without a doubt, adopt.

Really Pregnant?

Jealousy

My cousin Nathan is currently doing an internship in Alaska, and I am insanely jealous! Wish I could be there enjoying nature with him. Initially I wanted to be a singer, and then I was determined to be a marine biologist. I debated studying marine biology, but it is one narrow field with endless limitations and I wanted the luxury of going and living where I wanted. I have always been fascinated with whales and dolphins. Recently, on my graduation cruise, I got the wonderful opportunity to swim with the dolphins!! Next on the list, whale watching. I am thinking that Alaska would be a good place to go. One day, I am bound and determined that I will travel to Alaska.

Reality Lasik

Kristin Cavallari from Laguna Beach recently got Lasik eye surgery and she documented it. To those who might be considering the surgery, this could be beneficial. When I found this, I was expecting to somewhat laugh at it... but it really is all about her surgery process. For those who have never had surgery(unlike me who has had the grand total of 6 surgeries), it shows you there isn't much to be afraid of. I would like to possibly get Lasik one day, but I don't know that I can because of my previous eye surgery (also I don't know if my vision is terrible enough, at least not yet).

Potter Awaits

So as most of you know, Harry Potter came out today! I am so excited!! I love the books, and I already have the last one, which comes out later this month, reserved. I am waiting to see the new movie with Jeremiah. He is currently in Hilton Head on a family vacation...so I must wait until Saturday. Please, don't spoil it for me!!

Career Hunt Continues

I am still career searching like crazy! If anyone knows of any public relations/event planning/communications/fundraising positions, please let me know!

A New Place to Discover

I found this on Cameron's blog. I want to go see it so bad! I always love learning about new places that are out there for me to discover. This is apparently one of the new 7 wonders of the world and is located in Petra, Jordan.

PostSecret

I love this! I agree, the smart girl should win out every now and then (perhaps more often than not!).

I don't like thinking this, but I must admit, I do think this often.

Another Wonderful Wedding

The more weddings I attend, the older I feel. I remember when the only weddings I attended were with my family, and now that all of my friends are tying the knot, the invitation is addressed to "Mandy Daugherty & Guest"!! One of my oldest friends (which makes me feel even older that I can use the term "old friends" now) married the love of her life on 7.7.07! Hailee, was of course, every bit of the beautiful, blushing bride!

Here are my favorites of the pictures that I took.

Live Earth 7.7.07

I posted about this event/program back when they originally released information about it, but the day is here! At my house, it is on Bravo for 24 hours!! I have already been watching it (John Legend, Duran Duran, etc.) and so far it is wonderful. Plus, they sporadically give you fun facts and statistics about the environment (positive and negative). I urge you to tune in at some point today! I will be at a wedding tonight, but I will watch as much as I can! Also, you can check out the site, especially if you can't watch it for one reason or another.

I found this on the website, find out your environmental footprint!

Happy 4th!!

I am still not sure what my plans are for today/tonight, but I can guarantee I will be having fun! Usually I go to the houseboat and watch the firework show (which is mediocre at best, but it is on the water so it is hard to complain) on Cumberland, but this year I am in town for one of my oldest friends' weddings this weekend. I am so excited for her! For those who might not be planning on seeing fireworks tonight, check out this site and I hope it satisfies the desire.

Summer Reading

I just finished this book this weekend. One of my best friends, Katie, got it for me and I loved it! I was a good, cheesy, "just girls" book. I was struggling with reading this summer, because I just finished my mythology class this past semester before graduation and I was burnt out on reading. This book was the perfect cure! I needed something simple and easy, that did not require me to really think and analyze. I think I am still in school mode in the sense that I want easy reads during the summer because during the semester I am surrounded by mass quantities of intellectual material that I MUST read.

New "Briefcase"

I am currently on the job hunt and I was determined to find the perfect briefcase. I ended up with this one from Coach. It is actually considered a diaper bag...haha.
