A Real Oasis

This amazing sight is located in Peru. The oasis is running low on water due to global warming (yet another way we have affected the planet). Like most places of wonder, this one has a story:

The lagoon also boasts its own legend. As the story goes, it was created when a beautiful princess was surprised in her bath by an over-zealous suitor.

Appalled, she fled. Her dirty water became the lagoon and the folds of her mantle, streaming behind her, became the surrounding sand dunes.

Today, she is said to be happy again, living deep in the lagoon as a mermaid. Not such an appealing prospect if the water runs dry.

Limited Brands Sell Express

'Limited Brands' Shedding 'Express' Stores

After years of failed attempts to rejuvenate the brand, Limited Brands is selling a 67 percent stake in the clothing chain Express to private-equity firm Golden Gate Capital.

The company has also said that it is exploring strategic options for its Limited stores, writes the Washington Post. The retailer has been shifting focus away from the two chains in order to focus on its intimate apparel, personal care and beauty brands.

Martyn Redgrave, chief administrative officer of Limited Brands, has said that those areas account for about 70 percent of the company's revenue. The company has invested heavily in remodeling many of its Victoria's Secret stores, creating boutiques within the store. It plans to increase the size of its Victoria's Secret stores by 50 percent over the next five years and is considering launching Victoria's Secret sportswear, accessories and swimsuits lines. The company also plans to expand its Bath & Body Works to locations outside of malls.

Express operates 743 stores and did a total of $1.7 billion in sales last year, while Limited has 292 stores and had $493 million in sales last year.

Topshop - Kate Moss

There is some cute stuff available here, but remember, it is priced in pounds (which means double the number you see) and on top of that, you have to pay international shipping. Still, there are some fashionable pieces.

I am still grasping the fact that I never have to go to school again! I don't think it will fully hit me until fall rolls around and I am not going back to school!

End of Gilmore Girls

So I was really happy with how they wrapped up the series. Even though it is sad, mainly because it is one of the few, actually good, "family oriented" shows that was still on air...I agree that it was time. She graduated from Yale and was moving away...they couldn't really keep the appeal of the show going with the mother and daughter separated. After all, their relationship is the essence of the show, and the factor that makes it so intriguing. Nonetheless, the girls will be missed!

The End of Gilmore Girls?

So I have been told by many and a lot of people think that the Gilmore Girls is over. I have been researching online, trying to find the truth. At first, the reports I found said that the creators and directors are jumping ship, but the show still goes on (as far as I can tell). Here is an interview with the head honcho of the production. I was trying to find info on the CW site about this whole ordeal, but I failed miserably. Perhaps, it is there, and I completely missed it.

Then I found that the only thing that might change the fate of another season, is the fact that the 2 main characters' contracts are up.

'Your legal contracts are up and you begin to imagine what-if. I don't want to be in a situation where I feel sorry for me. I've seen what happens to actors and shows where the thing is done, let it be over. I don't know that we're in that situation', Graham said.

Bledel also added: 'I really don't know what this year is going to be like. I'm going to see what it's like, then decide how I feel. We'll see'.

Then I found an article from USA Today that said the CW announced this would be the end with the final episode airing on May 15th. I am a little confused. Maybe they had planned to keep the show going, but that fell through? I think it is safe to say, that Gilmore Girls ends next Tuesday.

“I think it’s the best decision for the show,” Graham told Newsweek for editions that will hit newstands on Monday. “One of the things Alexis (Bledel, her costar) and I wished could be different was the schedule, and it really can’t be.”

So the news about the end is all over the place, but it seems that after the producers and creators couldn't strike the deal they wanted with the network, everything else seemed to fall apart as well. I am really going to miss the Gilmore Girls.

Kentucky Derby

I absolutely LOVE the Kentucky Derby! Most likely because of my love for horses. My equitation class is officially over as the semester comes to a close, and it is safe to say that I will miss it. I worked the Derby a couple years ago, so to anyone who wants a hard, 3-day, well-paid job when the Derby swings back around, I recommend working it.

I just discovered this artist: Michael Gilberg. His work is simply breathtaking and amazing and I can't possibly say enough good things about it!

Biodegradable Products

This stuff is so cute and Eco-friendly!! They have blankets, pillows, scarves, etc. I love it!

"We are driven by the belief that good design is sustainable design. So we go to great lengths to ensure that all the raw materials that go into making our textiles have as little (if any) negative environmental impact as possible. This ensures that our products are fully biodegradable. At the end of their useful life, LoooLo textiles can be safely put into a composter and, within one year, be reabsorbed by the earth." ---from the LoooLo site

Although it is kind of pricey, I do love the whole idea behind these products. You can buy them at a few different websites, but I like this site (which also has other wonderful products by other companies/designers).

This chandelier is from vivavi.

There is a lot of other wonderfully cute things there too! So be sure to check it out!!
