Awareness Continued

In my attempt to spread awareness I have sites that I was a member of when I was like 7 or so because I have always been passionate about preserving our surroundings. I want to encourage people to check them out and educate themselves on the decreasing world that encircles us. If you can donate, then go for it, if not just gaining knowledge on the issues at hand, is always a positive outcome.

The Nature Conservancy

World Wildlife Fund
Sierra Club

It is really easy to ignore a lot of the problems because they aren't all directly affecting us right now, but they will be. I just think it is important to do what we can to save the world around us.

There is this amazing awareness campaign going on at this time called 'Live Earth'. This campaign is headed by Kevin Wall and Al Gore. It is about saving the planet and its resources, which we use. There is a concert 7.7.07 in support of this campaign.

"It will reach people in every corner of the planet through television, film, radio, the Internet and Live Earth, a 24-hour concert on 7/7/07 across all 7 continents that will bring together more than 100 of the world’s top musical acts. Live Earth alone will engage an audience of more than 2 billion people through concert attendance and broadcasts."

Here's the full list of artists released as of now:
  • Pharrell
  • Red Hot Chili Peppers

Fight YouthAIDS

ALDO Shoes (which I LOVE) are doing a campaign to fight YouthAIDS. Several celebrities are used to endorse the campaign.
You can purchase these tags for $5 to support the fight and spread the word at the same time.

Just a Dream

So I am a big John Mayer fan and I was bummed when I didn't get to go to his concert in Lex this past weekend. I guess I heard some friends talk about it because I had this dream last night...

Ok so I am walking along the streets of some downtown area and I hear someone warming up on guitar, and being the huge concert fan that I am, I figured I would check it out. When I go through this door I end up being right by the stage, and there's John Mayer. He strikes up this conversation with me and we are flirting, laughing and cutting up and he's like, "Why don't you hang around where you are and watch the show?" Of course, I am like OK!! Hahaha...so we talk and stuff throughout the show whenever he takes a break or goes to change, and it is like we have been the best of friends for so long...he ends up suggesting I should work for him, you know, be his PR gal.....really crazy, but a fun dream:)

Bloom

So my friends Kim, Meredith and I discovered Bloom yesterday! It is this wonderful boutique downtown Bowling Green on the square!! It has hardwood floors, chandeliers and vintage Victorian style couches, not to mention the fabulous clothes! I of course can't afford half of the clothing, but they did have a sale. I got this cream Yoana Baraschi pencil skirt, with this amazing faint textured design all over for $20 (originally $180) and this Ella Moss black jersey dress (so comfy and black like all of my other dresses, heehee) that has these wide braided straps and is practically perfect for the cruise! It was $45 (originally $90). I was and am so excited, I love finding bargains!!

Audrey Fan

Jeremiah and I watched 'Funny Face' last night and I LOVED it! I was somewhat scared after I didn't really love 'Breakfast at Tiffany's'....but this movie was another story. If you like older movies and musicals, this movie is for you!! I got for $5 at Wal-Mart, and it was well worth it.

Audrey plays a character who works in a bookstore and then becomes a fashion model, so if you like fashion (it is my minor, haha) then this movie is again, for you.

I think everyone saw the gap commercial for the straight leg black pants. That scene they use is from this movie!

This is the church used for a photo shoot in the movie. I want to get married there!!

This is part of the grounds surrounding the church. It was all so beautiful, now I want to go to Paris even more than before!

IKEA Love

I have never actually ordered anything from IKEA, but I always really like their stuff. A lot of it is pretty simplistic and basic, which I like because I won't get tired of it. Has anyone ordered from them? If so, let me know about your experience because I want to order some things BAD!

I really like this bed. I want a canopy bed so bad, and I like how clean and neat this one looks.

I think it has been established that I love light fixtures, so here are some cool, and really affordable ones from IKEA, of course!

Addicted to Hills

Okay, so for anyone who knows me, they know that I absolutely cannot get enough of "The Hills". I know it may be horrible to a lot of people, but I am always mesmerized when it is on. It was on Monday, and even though it is Thursday now, I still want to weigh in my opinion about this week's episode. I feel so bad for Heidi (if you don't watch the show, just ignore this post). I mean, to the viewers she looks so dumb to keep taking back the jerk-idiot "boyfriend" of hers, but she isn't seeing everything that we are. Although, she should trust her friends a little more and know that they have no motive to break them up, other than genuinely being afraid that Heidi will get crushed. I must say, Spencer is quite the jerk, and I don't even think anything about him looks real! I really want to like Heidi, but she is making it hard right now. At least, Lauren was honest with her, I would hope my friends would do the same (and I know they would!).

Okay, enough venting about some dumb show. Anyone else who watches, feel free to voice your opinions!!

Shoe Kick

Apparently I am really obsessed with shoes lately...because I am posting more. I think it is because I want some new ones for my trip, yeah, lets just say that's it!

Girlshop is a cool site, although a lot of it is out of my price range (like these shoes!). The sales usually have some affordable stuff, and it is just fun to look around.

More Keds

I most definitely want these!! I think I will have to order them. Keds are proving to be amazing in my book.

Stuff for My Cruise!

I really love all of these shoes...and I really need to start shopping for the cruise SOON! We leave 2 weeks from Friday! I am so excited!

These are all from Piperlime which is a wonderful site from the people of Gap Inc. (Old Navy, Gap, Banana Republic) that everyone should check out (if they like shoes).

My Zoe

So this is my wonderful Zoe. Considering she is usually in my lap while I am posting on here, I figured she deserved a post of her own! As anyone who knows me knows, I am a huge animal lover. I was going crazy not having animals around, so Jeremiah got me Zoe for our anniversary last year and she is the best dog ever! She was great company considering the first year of our relationship was long distance, and I love her more each day.

Quotables

I adore this site. Jeremiah and I get these cards for each other all the time and I just can't get enough. You can find them for sale at random places, but the website has a lot more to choose from!

Brit's New Look

So I can't believe she actually shaved her head. I suppose if it is what she likes, then power to her for doing what she wants. This is more for the few people left who haven't seen/heard about her new look.

SNOW

We have a whole lot of snow (at least for Kentucky!) and I love it! Although, snow worries me when I have somewhere to go, when I don't, I love playing in it and looking at it! I am currently debating going to church because the roads near my house are pretty bad, but I was really looking forward to going to Southland since I am home...

"Lust"

Another good website for stuff that I like!

A Bit of Illumination

I found another cool website for lighting! Some of the products are very expensive, but there are some that aren't too bad. Nonetheless, it is really fun to browse and see all the different fixtures they offer.

Interior Designs

My friend Emily revived my passion for interior decorating. So I started searching online for different inspirations and products that I want...

I LOVE bathtubs like this, and I will have one! I am definitely a bath person.

This table and couch are so beautiful. They have that modern twist on vintage style: just what I like!

I love the tile in this kitchen, the green and yellow combination is so bright, and then the black cabinets balance so it is not too bright.

Happy Birthday Momma Sue!

Yesterday was my grandmother's 73rd birthday!! She is such an amazing woman. She was given a few years to live when she was diagnosed with leukemia and she has completely surpassed the predictions. She is such a strong, wonderful woman! I am so blessed to have her.

Headed for Home

So I am going home today after I finish subbing and I am so excited! I love when I get to go see my family and friends, because I miss them so much when I am away!! I always thought I wanted to move far away from home, but the older I get the more I realize that I want to stay near my family. There is so much for me here in the area, so why should I move across the country? It is a question that has been plaguing my mind a lot lately with graduation in the near future. We are celebrating my dad/brother/grandmother's birthdays, so that's always fun too:) If there is anything fun going on this weekend in Lexington, be sure to let me know!!

My Upcoming Adventure!

So I am going on a cruise for spring break with my family and I could not be more excited!! It is my immediate and dad's side of the fam who we are particularly close to, so it should be so much fun! We are going to Costa Maya, Belize, Nassau, and Cozumel....and I need new clothes! Ok, so I never really need new clothes, but I would like some new fun stuff to wear! I also want a new bathing suit.....any ideas? Let me know some cool stores/sites so that I can really shop:)

Happy Valentine's Day to ALL!!

I am very torn on the topic of "Valentine's Day". While part of me enjoys the idea of people who care about each other showing their immense love for one another, the other part of me gets mad at the marketing geniuses behind today. Today should be a celebration of love and a way of thanking others for the love they have supplied you with and for you to shower those you love with warmth....not just a day to buy things. My kindergarten kids the other day were talking about how boys are supposed to buy things for girls----"whatever they want". While it was cute and funny at the time, the more I thought about it, the more it saddened me. How sad that this boy thought that was what Valentine's Day meant: just a time to buy stuff to make a girl happy. You shouldn't have to spend a lot of money, or have a lot of money spent on you to know that you are truly loved. Everyone is loved by someone. So enjoy what is left of today by being with someone you hold close to your heart: whether that is a best friend, family member, special someone, or even you beloved pet-----and know that love isn't so hard to find after all.

"It Gives You Wings"

So I am insanely in love/addicted to Red Bull....and I have really started to get away from it (partly b/c it is so expensive, and I think I became immune----so now I am more of a coffee person, ha!). Today, I was so exhausted because I just didn't sleep well last night, so I have my "emergency stash" in the back of the fridge to get me through those slightly-harder days, and I grabbed one for the road. I was subbing for 4th graders today and I had this boy who swore up and down that I was not allowed to have Red Bull in school because in contained alcohol! I didn't know what to say. I am pretty sure his parents told him that (because of the amount of caffeine) so that he wouldn't pester them about getting some...lol. So I told him it did not have alcohol and it was OK for me to drink...but he wasn't buying it. He kept trying to argue, and finally I said if it had alcohol, you wouldn't have ever been able to drink it (which he said he had before), and then he proceeds to tell me he has had beer before.....from there I was stumped. For all I know he was telling me the truth, or lying out of his butt....I just told him to go sit down!

Artfully Wonderful

So I am a HUGE art lover for those of you who don't know. Some of my favorite moments in life have occurred because of or around art. From Botticelli in Italy to Monet in Nashville...art has had a profound impact on me. I love to paint and make things, so I am pretty sure that my tendency for creative strategies is provoked by my love of art. For each person, every art piece can mean something different. I will be honest in saying that there are several pieces of artwork that I may look at and not understand at all, while there are others that just "look cool". These pieces are irrelevant to me. The ones that evoke emotion are the ones that should be praised and hanging on your wall!!

This site is really good and even better? The shipping is FREE! I mean, how many things can you really get for free anymore??

Kindergarten Love

Now that I am a substitute teacher, I am FULL of stories!! Today I taught a kindergarten class, and they were in no way boring. Two of the children told me that they were "in love" and getting married. Part of me initially thought this was because Valentine's Day is right around the corner and they are learning a lot about "love", but by the end I was not so sure that was the case. They wrote Valentine's/Love poems to each other, constantly sat side-by-side and when they stood up to dance to a song, they danced together. It was crazy! The boy looked me square in the eyes and said "I am going to marry her, as soon as I turn 16 we will be getting married." I was in shock. I mean, how do you respond to that? It was definitely an unexpected part of my day.

Happy Birthday Chasmo:)

So yesterday was my wonderful big brother's birthday and I forgot to post a birthday message....so.....

HAPPY 25TH BIRTHDAY CHAS!!!

"My Grammy Moment"

I am not sure how many people tuned in for the Grammy's last night, but it is one awards show I don't like to miss (even though I was totally exhausted last night). Although, I did not like how they did the whole "Vote for your favorite singer-& they will get to sing with JT" (b/c it was so American-Idolish), I was stunned by the performance. Robyn Troup did A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! Her vocals and pitch were flawless and she had the confidence of someone who has been a star for years. Can you imagine how intimidating performing at the Grammy's with Justin Timberlake would be??? SCARY! I was in chorus for so long that I truly admire impeccable vocals, and she (at least last night) had them. I hope for her sake the exposure helps her to pursue her dream!

Keds Are Back

I really like the new keds that are out. They are casual, yet stylish and they look like they would be really comfortable.

Cute and Cheap

I think these shoes are really cute and they aren't much money at all!! I have no idea how comfortable they are...but I really like them!

More Chandaliers!!

So as I have previously posted, I am OBSESSED with chandaliers! I love love love them and my house (when I actually get one) will be filled with them! This website has lots of unique, different chandaliers and they are cheap too (for chandaliers).

Short Films-Cool Places

I found this site last semester and it is really fun to watch different short films. If you are planning a trip to a major city, there is probably a film about it, or if you are just trying to find an interesting place to go explore, this is perfect for you! HAVE FUN!!

Tulips!!

So my boyfriend surprised me by leaving tulips in my apartment for me to come home to! I had the worst headache and it was a perfect way to make me smile. He is a pretty good one....I think I will keep him for a little while:)

Happy Birthday Daddy-O!!

Today is my Dad's 52nd Birthday!! He is truly one of the best Dads EVER! He is the biggest kid in the world and he is full of love and support! I could not ask for a better Dad!

Moore Music

So I am a big Mandy Moore fan and I just read this article in Jane about her. She talks about her new album a lot. I am really excited about it! To music fans, what she is doing is very respectable. She did not agree with her label (Warner Brothers) so she broke away from them. She said their vision was clashing with her own and she wasn't willing to sacrifice just to do what they wanted versus what she wanted. As a result she is funding her own album and she says that the freedom is very liberating! I am really looking forward to it, because for once, it is all her and what she wants (what a lot of mainstream artists need to do) and I am very much in awe of the fact that she has the guts to stand up for herself.

Individual Soundtracks

So I went to this site forever ago and saved it to my favorites and completely forgot about it. This guy in my Mythology class mentioned it today and I remembered how wonderful it is!! You just type in artists that you like, and others that are similar appear! It is fun if you are a music lover and will help you to broaden your tastes!

Pepper Spray (A Good Idea for Girls)

So I discovered this website through a friend (thanks Emily) and I loved it! I ordered some last week and it should be here any day now. I have been meaning to purchase some pepper spray since freshman year and I just kept putting it off, and now that I am a senior I am finally getting some. Did you know that 1 in 4 college girls are raped? I didn't, but it is true. I am taking self defense this semester, which really made me want pepper spray and when I found this site, I couldn't resist!

Because I Said So

My boyfriend took me to see "Because I Said So" last night and I LOVED it! It is definitely a girls' movie (although he did laugh from time to time). I probably adored it simply because Mandy Moore's character is me in so many ways, and I sympathized with her. If you want a good girls' night out, it is a good pick!

Bridesmaid Time

I went shopping for bridesmaid dresses with my best friend Patti yesterday, and we, of course, had a blast! Although, I couldn't help but wonder why there are so many horrid bridesmaid dresses available. I tried on the few we liked, and we narrowed it down to two (at least from that store). I am not sure it will be either of the two, but she does have more of an idea of the style she wants! Any suggestions about where to find dresses?

Millions of Chandeliers

I absolutely LOVE chandeliers! My mom started off my collection this Christmas with my first one and I can't wait to invest in more. I found this site that has some affordable ones and lots of other cute furniture and stuff!
