Concert of the Night

Last night my friend Robin and why went to see Brad Paisley, for free! We had so much fun!! Rodney Adkins and Kellie Pickler performed as well. It was a good time. I love concerts (even more when I don't have to pay, haha!).

On another note, you must watch this video. It is for anyone who has seen 'The Hills' this season. Probably more suitable for avid watchers (which I am slightly embarrassed to admit, is myself). *Jenni, you must watch this, you will love it!*

New Blog Alert

A friend of mine, Daniel Leffel, is currently serving in the peace corps. I have been hounding him, along with many others I am sure, about creating a blog and finally he has!! He was first stationed in Senegal and he is now in the town of Tivaouane. So his blog should be exciting!!

Also, I changed my settings so now ANYONE can comment on my blog, even if you don't have a blog yourself! I know my cousin Betsy reads from time to time, along with a few others (not a lot). So if you don't have a blog, be sure to put your name if you make a comment so I know who it is from!!

Christmas Suggestions

I absolutely love this hoodie from delias.
Although, it kind of irritates me that only $1.50 of the $44..50 goes toward the WWF (World Wildlife Federation).

As always, the WWF does adoption gifts for Christmas presents.
I love this idea.
Especially for the parent who has everything.
Pick any endangered animal that you would like to support!!

A Real Life Love Story

When he was 12, Herman Rosenblat and his family were taken from their home in Poland and sent to a concentration camp in Nazi Germany. Young Herman was forced to work shoveling bodies into a crematorium. All the while he did not know if he, too, would soon be killed.

One day two years later, Herman walked up to the barbed wire fence and saw a girl on the other side. "She says, 'What are you doing in there?'" Herman says. "I said to her, 'Can you give me something to eat?' And she took an apple out of her jacket."

The girl fed Herman an apple every day for seven months. Then one day he told her not to come back—he was being moved to another camp. "A tear came down her eyes," Herman says. "And as I turned around and went back I started to cry, too. I started to cry knowing that I might not see her again."

Herman was shipped to Czechoslovakia. Just two hours before he was scheduled to die in the gas chambers there, Russian troops liberated the camp and Herman was set free.

Almost 15 years later, Herman was living and working in New York City. A friend set him up on a blind date with a woman named Roma Radzika. Herman says he was immediately drawn to her. When they began talking about their lives, Roma asked Herman where he was during World War II. "I said, 'In a concentration camp,'" he says. "And then she says, 'I came to a camp and I met a boy there and I gave him some apples and I sent them over the fence.'

"And suddenly it hit me like a ton of bricks. And I said to her, 'There was a boy? Was he tall?' And she said, 'Yes.' I said, 'And one day he told you not to come around anymore because he's leaving?' And she says, 'Yes.' I said, 'That boy was me.'

Roma and her family had moved from Poland to Germany, using forged papers to hide that they were Jewish. They lived on a farm next to Herman's camp, posing as Christians to avoid being captured. Roma says when she brought apples and bread for Herman, he used to say, "I'll see you tomorrow."

"Well, what can I tell you? I proposed right then and there," Herman says. "I said, 'Look, I'll never let you go anymore. … Now that we're free we're going to be together forever.'"

This was on Oprah one day. My mom and I cried. This reassures my faith that real love stories do still exist and it is not ridiculous at all to hope for one of your own.

Tagged

These are in no particular order, but I tried to think of things people don't really know about me.

1. I burp disgustingly loud.

2. I absolutely hate blow drying my hair.
Every time I do, I want to chop it all off!

3. I try to do my part for the environment, but I never feel I am doing enough.
I am also fascinated with nature and the earth, and how all things coexist.

4. I have loved to write since I was a child.
I constantly think of new story ideas and write from time to time.

5. I have always had a dream of being a singer.
People tell me I should, but I am terrified to sing in front of people.

6. I have an addiction to ice cream.
I never get enough of it.
Especially peppermint.

7. As much as I love fashion, clothes, and getting dressed up, I am happiest in my lounge wear, and could live in them forever.

So I have very few "blog friends" and all but one of them has done this. So I am only tagging one person (Kristen), but extending the invitation to anyone who reads this and wants to do it!!

**** I am now tagging Jenni since she has a blog****

Protesters (inc Hayden Panettiere) try to save Dolphins

So this is one of the horrible realties in this world. It definitely brought a few tears to my eyes. If you haven't heard about this, watch the video. There are several on YouTube. I got the opportunity to swim with dolphins this year, and it is one of the most wonderful experiences I have had to date. They are amazingly sweet, healing, peaceful creatures, and it is so hard to imagine this many being slaughtered. Dolphins and whales are mammals with astounding communication skills making them unlike fish of the sea. While this group of protesters did not accomplish much that day, they most definitely got their message out there.

New Bed?

I really need a new bed. For the last 2 years of college my brand new mattress and box springs resided on the ground. I think I am really liking this one! Thoughts?

I really like all of these as well. All by Revco. Although, a bed is much more of a necessity, I do believe.

Cuteness

So cute. Although, I wouldn't mind having him for myself.

New Purchases

I have a seasonal job at Coach for now (although I am hoping to get offered a full time position SOON since I have had a couple of interviews lately- keep your fingers crossed for me!!). I needed some dressy flats since I will be on my feet all day, so today I got these!
They are wonderful and even cuter in person! Sooo comfy too!

Also got a really great headband (it is an obsession of mine), that wasn't on their website for some reason. Otherwise, a picture would be up for you to see.

Gorgeous

Love her, and she is just always pretty.

He is so pretty. Tends to have his shirt off a lot this season...

Aspiration

Lovely.

Christmas Jazz

I have no idea what these lights look like on the tree, but I really want to find out!

Ornament tree.
I am thinking it would be easy to make, but I have no idea if it would be cheaper or not!

I love these trees made out of feathers! Of course, I love feathers! Don't they look real?

I like these plates! You are not limited to "Christmas" with them, which is nice.

Love this fresh look.

Living Space

I hope to be finding a "career" job SOON, and that makes me excited because that means I can get my own place and decorate! Here's what I have found so far...

Love this, scared that Zoe might eat it though!

I am obsessed with this zebra rug!

Fun mirrors from Target.

Beautiful curtains, also from Target.

As any who know me know, I am obsessed with lighting! Isn't it fabulous?
I really need a computer chair, and I like this one a lot.
Both from West Elm.

Aren't these great?

So I am scheduled for a hot air balloon ride this weekend (YAY!) and I would love to have this necklace (above) or bracelet (below) as a "souvenir". I think I like the blue better.
